Food for friends is an award winning vegetarian and vegan restaurant in the south lanes in Brighton which is absolutely beautiful and so being a vegetarian I thought what a better place to go for afternoon tea to celebrate my mums birthday!
As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted by friendly staff members happy to help your every need and with decor to die for. Once provided with the menu we are the faced with the tricky decision of which tea to go for or which one of the array of cakes we are to devour.
I went for the white and dark chocolate gooey chocolate brownie which was served with a golden syrup ice cream. This had white chocolate chunks throughout and I can honestly say this was the most delicious brownie I have ever eaten! My mum went for the goji berry homemade scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. When I say strawberry jam this is basically whole strawberries and a sweet juice and when eaten with the scones it is the perfect balance of sweet and savoury.
The tea is brought to the table in cast iron tea pots which look like they have been brought from eastern china and bring the whole table together in a beautiful, elegant and charming atmosphere and this is the perfect treat for someone specials birthday. I will be going back here as soon as I can to take everything else from the menu!
